Welcome to the Website of Burton Joyce and District u3a

I’m Alan Comerie, the current Chairman, and I’m looking forward to meeting you.

u3a is a UK-wide network of over 1,000 charities that provide the opportunity for those no longer in work to come together, socialise, and learn for fun. We are run by volunteers and we can only ever offer what our members are prepared to give. But I think you will be pleasantly surprised at just how much that is. Come along to one of our monthly speaker meetings at Burton Joyce Village Hall on the second Tuesday of each month to see if we appeal. There’s no charge and you can make two visits without any obligation. Information about forthcoming speaker meetings is shown on this page:-  Meetings, Outings, Events – Burton Joyce U3A (bju3a.co.uk)

The beauty of u3a is that you can be as involved as little or as much you want to be, but like everything in life, the more you put in the more you get out. We currently have over 60 individual interest groups, from Aerobics to (as you can see from the photo) Wine Tasting, so there is bound to be something to take your fancy. If not, though, you can always start one yourself. It’s that easy. I hope this website gives you a flavour of who we are, where we meet, what we do and it encourages you to to give us a try.
