This is one of a four gardening groups within BJD u3a We are a mixed group with members ranging from novice to experienced gardeners. We share a common love of gardens and gardening.

Garden Visits and Talks

Occasionally, a visit to a garden or a nursery, or a talk from an acknowledged horticultural expert is organised on behalf of all the BJD gardening groups. These visits and talks are often thrown open to all members of our u3a as they can be of interest to everyone, not just those interested in gardening and horticulture. These combined meetings can involve additional costs for speaker, transport, venue hire, or admission fees that are not covered by the annual subscription.

We take it in turns to host and enjoy looking round each other’s gardens or visiting other local gardens during different seasons. Over a cup of tea (and cake!), we have a discussion about a specific garden topic e.g. safety in the garden, the basics of pruning, hints and tips for growing plants.

In the winter months we may watch a dvd about famous gardens or garden history or see a demonstration on creating festive garden decorations.
