Petanque has proved so popular that we now have two weekly sessions during the winter months You can also book your own games. We are a very friendly group meeting regularly and have and our own what’s app group.
If you would like to try us out please contact the Group Coordinator.
Both groups use the two pistes (playing areas) at Poplars, but not at the same time. There’s ample parking and our pistes are well maintained and sheltered
We use u3a equipment, though some members have purchased their own boules. Warm, casual wear is appropriate any we suggest you bring warm drinks on the colder days.
The game can be played with two, three or four in each team. A maximum of sixteen people can play on the two pistes at any one time
PÉTANQUE OR BOULES?
Boules is a collective name for a wide range of games in which the objective
is to throw or roll heavy balls (called boules in France, and bocce in Italy) as close as possible to a small target ball. English lawn and crown green bowls, and Pétanque are different forms of Boules.
