Description: This History group is studying British history in a chronological order from the Battle of Hastings in 1066 up to to more modern history. So far the group has reached the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837.

Each member of the group researches and leads a topic for discussion. This is very much a self taught group, all with a love of history but with widely varying existing knowledge.

The group tries to encourage any special interests of particular members and has studied historical subjects that may feature in the current media.

History

There are two History groups, History 1 and History 2, as described below.

History 1

Venue:

Burton Joyce & Bulcote Village Hall

Meeting Dates

 & Times:

1st Tuesday

2:00pm

Additional Charges:

£2 a month to cover hire costs and sundry expenses.

Description: This is a group of like minded friendly individuals who thought that they would like to fill in gaps in their History knowledge.

We started with 1066 and all that and are moving forward each month by using personal research, DVDs, poetry and visits such as to Lincoln, the Nottingham Archives and Leicester. We look at the monarch, architecture, food and drink, clothes, exploration and anything else that occurs to us.

We don't have an expert but aim to learn from each others research. We have tea/coffee and biscuits and a chat at half time.
