Bridge Clubs in the area include:

Burton Joyce Bridge Club

Thurgarton Bridge Club

Woodborough Bridge Club

At present there are two bridge groups learning the ACOL system of bidding, Bridge Group 1 and Bridge Group 2.

Description: Bridge Group 2 is for beginners and meets every Thursday at 2:00pm at the group leader’s home. No previous experience  of bridge is needed to join the group but a knowledge of card games such as whist can be a help.

For those without such experience we can offer the game of mini bridge as an introduction.

There are currently vacancies in this Group.

Burton Joyce & District U3A does

not endorse, recommend or approve the Bridge Clubs mentioned above,

nor the Bridge books and Flippers written by Ron Klinger, or any other author or Bridge tutor.

The information has been provided solely to give an indication of the availability of local Clubs, and range books that are available which are consistent with the tuition provided by our Group Leader.

Other clubs, and books and Flippers by other authors may be equally suitable.

There are very many books published on how to play Bridge. Several members of our Bridge Groups have found the series of books and quick reference guides, (“Flippers”), by Ron Klinger to

be very helpful and they fit in with the ACOL system and methods of play

taught by our Group Leader.

These books and flippers are available from most booksellers or via Internet retailers.
